A lot people are searching for a new home. Some are searching here in Netherlands, others abroad such as the UK, but no matter where you are moving to, there are some things you need to keep in mind before you move.

  1. You may need permits. If you are moving to or from Amsterdam, you may need a permit if you are blocking the street, especially in busy areas or areas that have limited room to maneuver such as the center of Amsterdam. If you have a question about which you need, don’t hesitate to contact us.
  2. The busiest traffic times. We have seen this many times before. If you are moving we highly recommend avoiding rush hour traffic. The reason you should avoid being on the road at this time is because you will end up in traffic and the meter will continue to run; meaning you will pay for standing still in traffic. Don’t get us wrong, the best thing you can do in this situation is start packing the bus during rush hour, that way you’ll be done when it’s over.
  3. Unforeseen additional costs. Moving can have many additional costs. The ones you may forget (that we’ll help you remember and account for) are things like storage fees, packaging materials and permits as mentioned above. We will help make you aware of these and ultimately, manage them.
  4. Plan ahead. Planning ahead is important. Not just to get yourself organized early on and avoid stress, but also because many people who move plan 1-2 months ahead (according to our data). Choosing to plan your move late frequently means you will pay higher prices for your move (if there are any spots left at all!). Book early to increase your chances of moving at your desired date and time at a reduced price.
